KAM in her endeavor to promote competitive local manufacturing in a liberalized market is dedicated to fighting against counterfeits in the market, a vice that has continued to erode approximately 40% of the market share of our genuine manufacturers (Intellectual property holders) in Kenya.
This war on counterfeits is done through the provision of essential links for co-operation, dialogue and understanding between both the Local Manufacturers (our members) and the Government (relevant ministries and parastatals/ agencies) as key stakeholders on this matter. Recently KAM has expanded this war on counterfeits to cover all forms of illicit trade after the realization that the war on counterfeits cannot be won single handedly without having a boarder approach on tackling illicit trade in Kenya as they are all interrelated. However it is good to note that counterfeiting is the most prevalent form of illicit trade in Kenya.
